Obituary:

Mr. William Archer “Bill” Matthews, age 85, of Smith’s Crossroads, died Monday, December 24, 2018 at his residence. He was an agent for thirty seven years for the former People’s Life Insurance Company, now Transamerica and a United States Army Veteran..
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-two years Barbara Walker Matthews, two sons; William A. Matthews, Jr and wife Kathy of Chase City and Barry Matthews and wife Terry of Matoaca, Va., five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3:00 P.M. in Ephesus Baptist Church with interment in Ephesus Baptist Church cemetery with American Legion Post #79 Military Honors.. The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Memorial contributions may be made to CMH Hospice. P.O.     I knew from what you said that he was in a bad shape. I will be thinking of you and your family so much in the coming months. You know my situation; and even though I would love to be there I am unable to do so. Our sincere sympathy to all of you in your loss. Lots of love from our house to yours.
