Dorothy (Dottie) Ann Hohl, age 70, of Bracey, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 24, 2018, at Sentara MeadowView Terrace in Clarksville, Virginia. Dottie was born on August 27, 1947 in Woodbury, NJ. She was preceded in death by her father, George Solley and sister, Linda Neher. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hohl, and step-son Richard Hohl, Jr. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Solley of Sicklerville, NJ, two sons, Michael (Kriste) Neher of Virginia Beach, VA and Scott (Karen) Neher of Deltona, FL, and grandchildren Joseph (Kylie), Erin, Jacob, George, Spencer, and Caleb, and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Lee Ann. Dottie graduated in 1968 from Helene Fuld School of Nursing at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. After moving to Bracey in 1977, she began her career at Community Memorial Hospital as an RN in the Emergency Room. From there, she led the IV Team and ultimately was instrumental in starting the Oncology Clinic in partnership with VCU Medical Center in Richmond. Over her 35+ year career, she educated and mentored numerous colleagues. While nursing was her love, oncology became her passion and she brought hope to families from all over Southside Virginia. She was known to her colleagues, patients, and physicians as a compassionate and caring nurse that dedicated her life to helping and serving others. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, August 29 from 6-8pm at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home in South Hill, VA. In lieu of flowers, her sons ask that memorials be directed to the CMH-Massey Cancer Center in South Hill, VA; Lake Gaston VFD, 7609 Hwy 903, Bracey, VA 23919; or the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, MCCA, PO Box 311, Chase City, VA 23924.
