Mr. Sterling W. Montague, Jr.

01/02/1944 - 12/26/2018

Obituary:

Sterling Waite Montague, Jr. Passed peacefully with his son by his side early in the morning December 26, 2018 after living with frontotemporal dementia. Sterling was someone impossible to forget, hard working, and strong willed. Born in South Hill, VA in 1944, he was a high school quarterback, a Bronze Star Army Captain who bravely served his country in Vietnam, and later a passionate real estate developer throughout Virginia. He loved helping others, caring for his many dogs, tending his impressive vegetable garden, and bragging about his most recent grocery store bargain. His golf achievements included at least one hole-in-one and a double eagle.
Sterling is preceded in death by his parents, Sterling, Sr. and Willie Edna; and his daughter, Emily. A supportive father, he is survived by his children, Lindsey, Sterling III, and TC, who regret he was unable to see his six grandchildren grow up so he could've taught them a thing or two. He will also be missed by his sister Amelia, former wife Leslie, dear friend Candyce, in-laws Jacquie and Ron, lifelong business associates, and many others. Anyone who knows Sterling Montague knows he never met a stranger. As his last act of generosity, Sterling has donated his body to dementia research. A memorial service was held Saturday, January 5, 2019, 1 p.m. at Bethel Regular Baptist Church, 1130 Towlston Rd, Great Falls. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Wounded Warriors or the Dementia Society of America. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 11:00 A.M. in Crestview Memorial Park with full American Legion Post 79 Military Honors. Online condolences may be sent through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. Following the service everyone is invited to a luncheon at Brian's Steak House to visit with the family and share stories about Monty. If you plan to attend the luncheon you are requested to RSVP by email to montague518@comcast.net.
