  1. So sorry to hear of Earls passing. He cut my hair in the late 50s til late 60s I would not let anyone else cut my hair! He was always nice and kind to me and I will never forget him. Rest in peace Earl!!

  2. Earl

My son went to get his hair cut yesterday and came back home in tears. I said why didn’t you get your hair cut and he said Mr. Earl died. He was my sons barber for 9 years! My son is autistic and Earl was always so patient and great with him. Our condolences to his family, he will be greatly missed!

  3. Robert Earl Newman

I have known Earl since I was a small child. He was a very kind, gentle, unassuming man who went about his day expecting nothing but touching so many lives. When his friends were hospitalized, he would kindly offer to visit them and give them a haircut. I can’t imagine how many stories Earl heard in that barber shop and doubt that he knew how his wonderful ability to listen, comforted and provided hope and encouragement for those in that old chair. He also had a great sense of humor. Dennis and I sometimes saw him in Wilson’s getting dinner and we would chat and laugh about life’s joys and challenges, and his family. He was contented and really expected nothing in return for his acts of kindness. I hope he knew how much he impacted his family, his community for generations and friends and how much he was loved!
Enjoy that family reunion. May sweet memories comfort your family and give them peace.

  4. Earl and I have been friends for over 60 years. He always showed kindness to each person he met. He was an excellent barber and took pride in his work.
He cut hair for me and my two boys for many years. We pray for Susan and each family member that they may receive peace and comfort that this difficult time. Earl will be greatly missed.

  5. Consodolences

One of the nicest individuals I have meet in my entire life. For over 40 years Mr. Newman cut my hair. The pleasant way he spoke with you, his caring about you and just the way Earl made me feel comfortable. I will truly miss stopping in South Hill every couple of weeks and getting my haircut. One of the only reasons I would stop in South Hill was to say hello to Earl and be around such a great man. My heart goes out to the family. Mr
Newman will be missed. God bless the entire family.
