Obituary:

Mr. George Ellis Ogburn, age 61, of Kenbridge, VA, died Sunday December 22, 2019 at his residence. He was self-employed and a Military Veteran. George was preceded in death by his wife, Temperance Anne Ogburn. George is survived by his two sons: Christopher David Henley of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Travis Lee Henley (Tonya) of Abington, VA; a brother, Charles Raymond Ogburn (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Debra Anne Ogburn of Amelia, VA; an uncle, Charles Brame Ogburn of Foster City, CA; a grandson, Jacob Wayne Henley; a great-grand daughter, Riley Anne Henley of Kenbridge, VA. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held in March. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Light of Hope Baptist Church at 900 Kenbridge Road, Blackstone, VA 23824 on Saturday March 21st at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flower, the family suggest memorial contributions in George’s name be made to Light of Hope Baptist Church at 900 Kenbridge Road, Blackstone, VA 23824.     Pops I’ll meet you one day in heaven. We had a rough ride. But you loved Jacob like he was your own. And I’ll always love you for that. I’m sorry I can’t be there. Neither will be. Unfortunately the rest of your family treated us like dirt. And After all the lies and dishonest I can’t stand neat them. Rest in peace old man.

    George was quite a Character. He was out spoken in many ways. Sometimes to his detriment. He was also a kind individual with a good heart. He was determined to accomplish his goals in life no matter what. Rest In Peace George. I considered you a friend and will miss you greatly.
