Obituary:

Mrs. Joyce King Smith, age 73, of South Hill, died on Friday August 13, 2021. She was a homemaker and an active member of New Hope Baptist Church in South Hill. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Ed Smith of South Hill; her three children: Lynwood King of South Hill (Tanya), Missy Scheidbach of South Hill (Carl) and J.C. Smith of Summersville, WVA (Melanie); her sister, Riggie Clay of South Hill (Lawrence); her two brothers: Robert D. Crutchfield of Kenbridge (Jewel) and Charles S. Crutchfield of Bracey (Connie); her twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and her many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her son, Robert S. King and her great-grandson, Sterling Carroll King. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday August 17th at 4:00 P.M. in New Hope Baptist Church with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00 P.M. until service time. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Smith’s name may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 255 Union Mill Road, La Crosse, VA 23950.
