Mr. Jay Tully Forbes

Obituary:

Jay Tully Forbes, 75, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Barrington, RI, passed away on August 28, 2021. Funeral service will be held through the Crowder-Hite Funeral Home in South Hill, Virginia on October 16, 2021 at the graveside in the Oakwood Cemetery in South Hill, Virginia on Saturday October 16, 2021 at 11:00A.M. Jay was born in Richmond, Virginia to Jachin M. Forbes and Mary Bugg Forbes on July 10, 1946. He went to Edgemont High School in Scarsdale, NY and was graduated in 1964. Jay went on to earn a BA from the State University of New York in New Paltz, NY, a MA in American and British Literature from the University of Rhode Island in South Kingston, RI and an ABD from URI in British Literature. He worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Revlon and American Tourister before teaching as an Adjunct professor of English at Bristol Community College in Fall River, Massachusets. Jay enjoyed bass fishing in tournaments, racing cars, reading, football, and doted on his dogs Cooper, Matty, and Molly. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jacqueline Forbes of Naples, Florida; his sister Denise Stubblefield and her husband John of Charlottesville, Virginia; his niece Audrey Snyder and her husband Brock of Richmond, Virginia and their three daughters Cora, Mary Mae, and Lily; his niece Mary Bracey and her husband Dan of Chapel Hill, NC and their two daughters Lucy and Sterling; and a nephew Johnny Stubblefield, Jr. of Charlottesville, VA. His sister-in-law Dana Crossland and her daughter Carrie Mello and son Chad Crossland; brother-in-law Robert Baker and wife Mary Baker and their son Robert Baker and daughter Erin Johnson; and brother-in-law Christopher Baker and wife Sheila Baker and their two daughters Sydney Baker and Samantha Baker Miyamoto, plus many cousins. Jay is preceded in death by his father Jachin Morrisette Forbes and his mother Mary Bugg Forbes.
