Obituary:

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hammonds, age 82, of South Hill, died on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was a retired CNA nurse for the Hundley Center and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Warren Francis Hammonds. Mrs. Hammonds is survived by her two daughters: Michelle Taylor and her husband Paul of La Crosse and Linda Yonker and her husband Grover of South Hill; her two brothers: Jerry Banes, Sr. of South Hill and Stuart Lee Banes and his wife Shirley of Powhatan; her five grandchildren: Christopher Taylor, Kaylyn Taylor, Brittany Taylor, Tiffany Yonker and Paige Yonker; her nine great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Kayli, Naomi, Jayden, Ayden, Luke, Thomas, Abigail and Brooke and her many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday December 20th at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 P.M. until service time in the funeral home. Anyone wishing to pay their respects to Mrs. Hammonds are welcome to come during regular business hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.
