Obituary:

Chief Master Sergeant Carolyn Joyce Wehrle, born 2 April 1949 to John
Samuel and Ruth Ezell Walker. Married to Marvin Dale “Bum” Wehrle, 2 June 1988 in Carlyle, Illinois. She served for 23 years, 11 months in the United States Air Force, worked as a Bartender for 10 years and 14 years at Arrow Group as Machine Operator/ die setter, inspector and Supervisor of manufacturing and packing factory. Deployed in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm to Saudi Arabia area of responsibility. Retired 100% disabled on April 2004 on delayed retirement list and final retirement on 7 November 2007. Assigned to the Air Mobility Command Headquarters, Scott Air Force Base Illinois, Chief Wehrle served as Superintendent AE Operations, Exercises and Deployments. Mission Support Operations, Global Readiness, a Life member of the Disable American Veterans Chapter 24, life member of VFW Post 7983 Trenton, IL, transferred to #5694 Post Highland, IL. Served as Commander in 1993 and 1994. She was a Life Member of Aux Post 5694 in Highland, IL, a Life Member of American Legion Post 1239 and a Clinton County Judge of Election for Sugar Creek 2, Trenton, IL. She was a Medical Technician for over 24 years with U.S. Air Force and Sugar Creek Ambulance, a Community College Air Force Associate in Applied Sciences Allied Health Science 1989 and an Associate Degree in Allied Health Sciences in Business Management/Supervisory 1990.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters; Mona Marie Feldt of Highland, IL and Tammy Steininger and husband Nick of Fort Riley, KS, a son Charles Dale and wife Sara Tanner also of Highland, IL, four brothers; Tommy Lee Walker of South Hill, John Lewis Walker (Joyce) of Raleigh, NC, David L. Walker (Evon) of South Hill and James S. Walker (Brenda) of Chase City, three sisters; Linda Gale Wilson of Dundas, Deborah F. Walker of South Hill and Sylvia Ann Walker of Richmond, seven grandchildren; Danielle Marie Lebegue and Warren Lebegue of Highland, IL., Garrett Bremer and Avery Bremer of Ft. Riley, KS, Madlyn and Sophia Feldt of Highland, IL, and Reagan Tanner also of Highland, IL., a great granddaughter Kyler Marie Driemeyer of New Baden IL and great grandson Bobby Udel Dale Lebegue. She was predeceased by her husband Marvin Dale “Bum” Wehrle, a sister Marjorie Neal Carter and two brothers; Samuel (Skinner) and wife Patsy and Bill Walker.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home with interment in Crestview Memorial Park with American Legion Post #79 full military honors.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 24, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s name to your local VFW or American Legion Post # 79 of Disabled American Veterans.

    Deb and the Walker/Wehrle families.
    I discovered this obituary at the CHC Funeral home site today ( Sun, Feb 7). I realize it is a belated contact now but want you and the families to know you will be in my prayers as you continue your journey during this difficult time. May the peace of God comfort you.
