Mr. Wayne Delbert DePuy

Obituary:

Mr. Wayne Delbert DePuy, age 84, of South Hill, known as “Grumpy” to his grandchildren, died on Wednesday September 28, 2022 in his home after a long bout with cancer and alzheimers which finally won the battle. Wayne retired from Shoosmith Brothers Construction in 2002. After retirement he moved to Bracy, VA and participated in the opening of Hard Times Restaurant and Lounge with his stepson, Alex Gentry. He was also a United States Navy Veteran who served for twelve years, including the Korean War. Wayne is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy DePuy of South Hill; his two special sons: Alex Gentry and his wife Brenda of South Hill and Dennis Gentry and his wife Debbie of Lanexa, VA; his two grandchildren: Kristen Jones and her husband Kris of Glen Allen, VA and Landrum Gentry and his wife Jill of Myrtle Beach, SC; his two great-grandchildren: Katy Adams of Myrtle Beach, SC and Levi Jones of Glen Allen, VA; his four daughters: Shelley Melton, Ellen Beeden, Lorraine Paylor and Jeanne Sandridge all of Richmond, VA; his son, Tony Chambers of Florida; his two brothers: Ronnie DePuy of Richmond and John DePuy of Youngstown, Ohio and his many nieces and nephews of Youngstown, Ohio. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Tuesday October 4th at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 until service time in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com.
