Obituary:

Joann Thompson Reekes, age 89, of Richmond and formerly La Crosse, VA, passed on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at The Barrington at Hioaks, Richmond, VA. She was an employee of the former Watkins Drug of South Hill and La Crosse Sportswear of La Crosse and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Melvin G. Reekes.
Mrs. Reekes is survived by her daughter, Melva R. Jones (John) of Richmond, VA, her granddaughter Emily D. Jones of Williamsburg, VA and her grandson Benjamin W. Jones of Richmond, VA.

Joann, referred to by her family as Mema, was known for attention to homemaking details and appreciation of her family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 Wednesday, June 7, 2023 by Reverend Mike Day in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home, 1504 N. Mecklenburg Ave., South Hill, VA with a private interment in Crestview Memorial Park

The family will receive friends also on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home
