Mr. Joseph Raymond Whittemore

Mr. Joseph Raymond Whittemore (Joe), age 80, of Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He is survived by his son, Chris Whittemore (Jenny) of South Hill; his brother, Randy Whittemore (Mary Ann) of Manakin Sabot; three nieces, Tracey Jameson (Chris), Abby Knott (John) and Connie Poland (Chet); one nephew, Stephen Whittemore; five grandchildren, Madison Howle (Hunter), Mason Whittemore (Madelin), Tucker Warren, Cooper Warren, and Charlie Whittemore; and his great-granddaughter, Nellie Howle. Mr. Whittemore was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nellie Whittemore, and one brother, Charles (Sonny) Whittemore. A retired employee of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Joe had a passion for woodworking, antique tractors, and the Amish Country. He was a proud grandfather who cherished his grandchildren deeply and was especially captivated by the last two born, who were named in honor of his mother and father. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday October 28th at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 until service time in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department at 400 North Main Street, Lawrenceville, VA 23868 or to the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Work with Joe at the sheriffs office for many years had all the respect in the world for him he was a true law enforcement officer and good person he coached me in little league ball now he and George turner are back together again RIP my friend

I remember coming to Brunswick as a rookie trooper and working with Joe. He become good friend and was an exemplary deputy who taught me a lot. God Bless Joe .

I am sad for Joe’s family but happy for him. He is now celebrating with his Lord and Savior and all of his family gone on before him. May God be with each member of his family in the months ahead without him. Lots of love from my home to yours
