Annie Cifers Toone

Obituary:

Mrs. Annie Cifers Toone, age 97 of La Crosse died Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at her residence. Annie was the daughter of the late Oscar W. Cifers and Mamie Parker Cifers. She was a former seamstress for La Crosse Sportswear and the widow of Earnest Gordon Toone.
Annie is survived by five daughters; Mable Hudson and husband James of La Crosse, Betty Jean Peterson and husband Richard of Baytown, TX, Carolyn King and husband Bobby of La Crosse, Mary Tuck of La Crosse and Judy T. Kidd and husband George also of La Crosse, one sister; Margaret Vaughan of La Crosse, a daughter-in-law Linda Toone of Brodnax, sixteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren and thirty-seven great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Ernest Gordon Toone Jr., a granddaughter Theresa Poole, a sister Elsie Reid and two brothers; Roy and William Cifers and a son-in-law Richard Peterson.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday June 12, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in Olive Branch Baptist Church, Blackridge with interment in La Crosse Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M. at the church. The family suggest memorial contributions be made in Annie’s name to Olive Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, 5223 Blackridge Rd., Blackridge, VA 23950 or Gideon's International, c/o Gideon's International Processing Center, P.     My sincere condolences to this Family.Mary,Judy,Betty Jean,Mable,and Carolyn.I have known this Special Family a long time.Ms.Annie was a Godly woman.I am glad I got to listen to her tell of her Family.

    Mrs. Annie was a beautiful soul. I send my condolences to all of Mrs. Annie’s family. She always loved to sing the song Jesus Loves Me. Mrs. Annie is in Heaven with God and all of the family members that went before her. Mrs. Annie you will truly be missed by many. HUGS, LOVE, PRAYERS, and PEACE to all!

    YESTERDAY, WE MOURNED THE PASSING OF A SPECIAL LADY. TODAY, AS WE’RE TAUGHT, WE CELEBRATE THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE OF ANNIE TOONE. WHEN THE GATE KEEPER GIVES HER THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HEAVEN. HE WILL SIMPLY SAY, MISS ANNIE , IF YOU’RE HALF AS GOOD AS YOU WERE ON EARTH. YOU WILL BE A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO HEAVEN.
    “PLEASE DON’T CRY FOR ME” BECAUSE I SUFFER NO MORE. PLEASE SAY HI TO MY MOM.
