Robert David “Speedy” Williams Jr.
August 14, 1957 – August 19, 2025
Robert David Williams Jr., affectionately known as “Robbie” or to most as “Speedy,” passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Born on August 14, 1957, Robbie leaves behind his devoted wife of 38 years, Denise Clary Williams of Bracey, VA, and his faithful friend and companion, Archie. The family was formerly of Dolphin, Virginia.
Robbie was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mildred Ison (Smokey) and Janet Waller (C.B.). He is survived by many beloved family members including Lisa Clary of South Hill, Gwen Painter (Gary) of Dolphin, Sue Chandler (Luby) of Lawrenceville, Eric Clary (Reilly) of Richmond, and a special nice Jordan Elizabeth Sumpter (Jake) of Dolphin.
Robbie had several beloved neices and nephews; Benji Waller (Claudia), Rhonda Stainback, Randy Ison (Cindy), Hope Harrell, Kawana Vannoy, Kim Takata (Jerry) and many great-nieces and nephews.
Robbie worked primarily as a wastewater treatment operator, where he became Chief Operator over his career. He was also deeply committed to serving his community in emergency medical services (EMS), contributing through various rescue squads and fire departments. Notably, he was instrumental in helping establish the CERT of Brunswick County.
In retirement, Robbie was a jack of all trades, but enjoyed his life to the fullest. He spent countless hours fishing and boating with the catch of his life, Denise, and loved riding his Bobcat and four-wheeler with his beloved dog, Isabelle all over the lake.
He never met a stranger, and if you were fortunate enough to click with him, you knew you had a lifelong friend. Robbie cherished countless friendships, including those with Robert Dennis, Jason Link, Mark Waski, Reggie Stewart, and his very special cousin, Buddy Wray.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Dogwood Trails staff at Clarksville Health & Rehab Center for their compassionate care during Robbie’s final days.
