Mrs. Betty Hall Cliborne
07/09/1930 - 11/06/2025
Mrs. Betty Hall Cliborne, age 95, of La Crosse, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Ivy Bland Cliborne. Betty is survived by her daughter, Anne Upton and her husband Phillip of Boydton, Virginia; her three grandchildren: Phillip Bland Upton and his wife Elisabeth of Boydton, Virginia, Audrey Dudley and her husband Al of Boydton, Virginia and Jessica Upton-Taylor and her husband Joseph of South Hill, Virginia. In addition to these family members, she is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Caitlin Upton McClelland and her husband Jonah of California, Ava Dudley, Luke Dudley, Seth Dudley and Caleb Upton of Boydton, Virginia and Ivy and Milly Taylor of South Hill, Virginia. She also considered Logan Ryder of Norlina, North Carolina a great-grandson too. Betty was a lady that knew hard work and caring for others. She cut her own grass until the age of 92. Betty was a caregiver to her husband, Ivy, who was bed ridden for ten years. She also at the same time as caring for her husband, was a babysitter for almost all of the children in her neighborhood, along with starting out with her own grandchildren. Betty was also known for her homemade chocolate pies and her chocolate candy. Up until her sickness, every Christmas, she would distribute candy plates throughout the neighborhood. Her neighbors referred to her as the “chocolate lady.” She loved her family very much and they loved her dearly too. A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Saturday November 8th at 1:00 P.M. in Crestview Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Cliborne family.

I always thought of Aumt Betty as an angel!
The way she took care of Uncle Ivy was amazing without a complaint. Always positive.
We loved her chocolate pies. I would make Aunt Betty’s chocolate pie for dinners at church here in Georgia. She will be missed.
Forever in My Heart and Memory
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Betty. She was such a warm and caring presence in my childhood — someone who gave her time, patience, and love so freely. Her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her, especially the many children whose lives she helped shape.
Betty wasn’t just a babysitter; she was a pillar of the community — always giving, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a smile. Her love for children and her gentle, steady nature made her a source of comfort and strength for so many families.
She will be greatly missed, but her spirit of compassion and her legacy of nurturing others will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know her. My thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with her family and all those who loved her.

Mrs
Mrs. Cliborne was the sweetest woman! She kept two granddaughters for several years and they loved her dearly. We are saddened by her death but glad she’s where God wants her to be. She was a wonderful caretaker for Ivy, and a blessing to all of the children she took care of. My thoughts and prayers for the family! God bless and comfort all of her loved ones.

Betty was the best neighbor, a good friend, and kind soul with a strong faith. She loved her family and the children she cared for. She was an amazing and strong woman that garden, canned, mowed grass, and put everyone else first. God blessed us with her, and she will be missed but not forgotten.God speed, Betty. We loved you. Our prayers and thoughts are with her family.
