Shirley Roberts Smelley

Mrs. Shirley Roberts Smelley, age 90, of South Hill, VA, died Friday, November 7, 2025. Shirley is the wife of 72 years to Lewis Preston Smelley and worked as a Seamstress at the former LaCrosse Sportswear. In addition to her loving husband of 72 years, Lewis, Shirley is survived by her son, Michael Smelley (Helena), daughter, Connie Cage all of South Hill; a granddaughter, Brittany Winslow (Nathan) of Smithfield VA. a sister, Margaret Santerre (Ronnie) of Hopewell, VA, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers; Stafford C. Roberts, Willie Roy Roberts and Elwood R. Roberts and two sisters; Nellie R. Cumbia, Delma R. Wilson.
A memorial service is to be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Shiloh United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service. niece in law
Aunt Shirley was a wonderful lady. She loved her family beyond measure. I always enjoyed visits with her, she will be truly missed but she is in the her Savior’s arms free from pain. It must have been some family reunion in heaven as she was reunited with loved ones. Love you Aunt Shirley, thanks for some sweet memories.
