Mrs. Gwendolyn Margaret "Gwen" Whilden
12/12/1948 - 12/06/2025
Gwendolyn Margaret Whilden, a beloved 76-year-old resident of Boydton, Virginia entered eternal life with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Richmond. She was a committed wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. For many years, Gwen was the Office Manager for Glenn Barbour CPA of South Hill before retiring in 2019. She was a devout Christian and a true and worthy servant of God. She lived each day with unwavering faith, humility and grace. Gwen was a beacon of light in the lives of all that knew her. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David J. Whilden, and their four children: Debbie Parker (spouse Richard) and Karen Reister, both of Michigan; Scott L. Whilden (spouse Chrissy) of Jacksonville, Florida; and Robert J. Whilden (spouse Angela) of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Gwen’s cherished grandchildren include April, Sandra, Timmy, Joshua, Eric, Greg, Christopher, Rob, Matthew, Rachel, Hudson, Charles, and Jarod. Gwen was also loved by 20 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. P.J. Parker, Pastor. A private interment will follow at Bethal Baptist Church Cemetery in Boydton, Virginia. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial contribution in Gwen’s name to the church family that she knew and loved, New Horizon Baptist Church, located at 183 Revival Rd., Blackstone, VA. 23824. Gwen’s faith and devotion will continue to inspire us and remind us to walk in love and live with purpose.
“Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23)

My condolences. She will be missed. She had such a loving and generous heart. But take comfort in knowing she is walking streets of gold holding Jesus hand.
Always & Forever
Today, we gather with heavy hearts but also with deep gratitude for the beautiful life my grandmother Gwendolyn Margaret Whilden lived. She was a woman whose kindness touched everyone she met, whose laughter made even the hardest days lighter, and whose love held our family together in ways words can barely describe.
Gwen had a special way of making each of us feel seen, valued, and cherished. Whether it was through her warm hugs, her wise advice, or the simple comfort of her presence, she gave love freely and wholeheartedly. She taught me patience, strength, generosity, and the importance of caring for one another.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we are blessed to have had her in our lives. Her spirit will live on in the lessons she taught, in the traditions she passed down, and in the love she poured into our family. We will carry her memory with us, always.
May she rest peacefully, reunited with the loved ones who went before her, and may we honor her legacy by living our lives with the same kindness, grace, and love she showed every day.
Grandma, we love you. We miss you. And we will hold you in our hearts forever.
Always and Forever, your grandson Christopher Whilden
