Cheryl Harris Roberts

10/26/1956 - 04/06/2026

Obituary:

Cheryl Harris Roberts, age 69, passed away April 6, 2026 at her home in South Hill, Virginia. Born on October 26, 1956 to Tommy and Sue Harris, she was the oldest of four children. After graduating with honors from Kenston Forest School in 1975 where she was class historian, Cheryl began her education at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She transferred to then Medical College of Virginia (MCV), now VCU, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) in 1979. Her mentor followed her work closely and quickly selected her to move directly into the MCV Trauma Center, or Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Cheryl’s care to her patients at MCV was exceptional as noted by coworkers, doctors, and administrators. After moving to St Luke’s to work for a time, Cheryl transitioned to home health care. Finding her place and her people, she joined her close friend, Robyn Wandrick starting her own home health care company, Paradise Home Care. Cheryl was critical to the company startup, memorizing Medicare tax law, coding and billing. She also was in charge as the company lead for education, training, quality, performance improvement, coding, and billing. Fully functional and licensed by 1 August 2007, surgeons quickly reached out based on both Cheryl and Robyn’s reputation for the most difficult cases transitioning from intensive hospital care after trauma. They excelled at “wound vacs” and provided a sterile and pristine environment for patient recovery at home. Cheryl, Robyn, and others worked in the field providing care across a range of cities, towns, and counties in the early days of home health. Pioneers in building protocols and developing a team capable of taking care on the road, Cheryl made a difference to hundreds of individuals and their families. In addition to her passion for patient care, Cheryl was a gifted musician. Friends and family will remember her playing the piano and organ at church and school. She loved to laugh and would often sit on the sidelines listening to the stories and shenanigans, not as the center of attention but happy and content dissolving into laughter with everyone else. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Graham Harris and precious granddaughter, Teale Weilbach. She is survived by her children, Stacy (Dustin) Weilbach, and Zachary (Kathleen) Roberts. She is also survived by her sister, Teresa Dicks, and brother, Bernard Harris. Among those who miss her are her grand pups. Cheryl was incredibly excited to meet her future grandson, Tobias Weilbach. A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, April 19 at Crenshaw United Methodist Church in Blackstone, Virginia. Family will receive visitors at 2pm and the service will begin at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Cheryl’s honor to Camp Rainbow Connection, a respite camp for adults with intellectual disabilities at PO Box 724, Midlothian, VA 23113 or online at crcva.org/give.
