Carlies Smith Little

Mrs. Carlies Smith Little, 78 of Ebony, passed away June 28, 2026. She was a daughter of the late Grover and Nancy Smith and was also preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Fred H Little; her sister, Sandy Turner and brother, Ted Smith. She was born in Wilson CO. NC and a graduate of Lucama High School in Kenly, NC. She is survived by her daughter, Philicia Merkle of Ebony; 3 grandchildren, Tyler Merkle (Kaylan Mason) and their sons Theo and Dempsey; Gage Merkle (Emily) and theirdaughter Shelby Faye; and Savannah Merkle all of Chesterfield; sister, Linda Boyette (George) of NC; brothers, Fred Smith of Alexandria and Horace Smith (Lynn) of NC; along with many nieces and nephews. Carlies, affectionately known by her grandkids and their friends as “Nana”, was fun-loving and full of life. She was a part of the “SIS” ladies of the Siouan Shores neighborhood; a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and a previous member of the Ebony VFD Ladies Auxiliary. A Celebration of Life will be held, 11:00 AM Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Prospect United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. Carlies Little
My Prayers and Condolences to the family. I was saddened to hear of Carlies passing. I will always cherish the memories of the many years I worked with Carlies at Utica National Insurance Group. She was a wonderful person and I will miss her.
