Myer "Butch" Stratton Reed, Jr.

Myer Stratton Reed Jr. (Butch), age 78, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2025, of natural causes. He was born on April 8, 1947, in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Myer Stratton Reed Sr. and Evelyn Virginia (Gee) Reed. Myer went to school at La Crosse Elementary and Park View High School in South Hill, Virginia, He went on to earn his doctorate degree in sociology from the College of William & Mary, and later attended Tulane University.
He dedicated his career to education, serving as a college professor at Radford University in Radford, Virginia, where he inspired countless students through his passion for learning and thoughtful mentorship. On September 18, 2014, Myer married William Earl King, with whom he shared a loving and devoted partnership. Myer had a lifelong appreciation for antiques and enjoyed spending his time exploring their history and craftsmanship. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Norton. He is survived by his niece, Janice Hovik, and his brother-in-law, Roy Norton. Myer will be remembered for his warmth, intellect, and kindness. His legacy will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

A graveside inurnment will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Crestview Memorial Park at 12:00 P.M.. Crowder - Hite - Crews Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Reed family in local arrangements.
