Dennis Ray Kidd, age 77, passed over to his eternal life with the Lord on July 19, 2020 at his home in Bracey, VA, with his wife and family by his side. Ray served in the Army National Guard. His past employment was with Magnolia Homes, USCO, developed a subdivision of over 30 homes and President of C&K Homes, Inc for 40 years. He was a Board member of the National Housing Association, a past member of the South Hill Chamber of Commerce, a life long member of the American Legion and an avid Nascar fan. Ray attended New Hope Baptist Church when he was able. He sponsored baseball and soccer teams in Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties. He contributed monetarily or his personal time for many community or school events in both of these counties. Ray was a benefactor to anyone in need. He truly was a very generous man. His Grandchildren: Heather Kidd, Hilary Kidd, Summer Dawkins, Maggie Davis, Winston Kidd, Stoney Kidd, Rachel Kidd, Ethan Kidd and Sebastian Kidd. His Great-Grandchildren: Landon Kidd, Stella Dawkins and Cooper Dawkins (on the way). Surviving relatives: Eddie, Patsy and Chad Short (brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew); Frankie, Georgia and Macy Reese (brother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece); four sisters: Nell Malloy, Kelly Blythe, Doris Wright, Jean Phillips and husband William; Jimmy Kidd (half brother); Pete Jones (brother-in-law); Betty Kidd (sister-in-law). Betty Reese, dedicated aunt and caregiver for 2 years. Ray called her his “guardian angel.” Deceased relatives: “Pop” and Bertha Conner (step dad and mother); Jesse & Helen Kidd (father and step mother); Sonny and Mae Reese (father-in-law and mother-in-law) Elma Jones (sister); Bobby Kidd (brother); Faye Jones (twin sister) and Glen Reese (brother-in-law/son). A host of nieces and nephews surviving and deceased too numerous to mention. Very important in Ray’s life were, of course, his fur-babies: Tom, Chichi and Rambo. Acknowledgements and sincere gratitude to Dr. Linda Powers, Dr. El Mouallem, Oncology staff, Dr. Rimon, CMH Hospice and Allison Mull, SW. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 21st at 10:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory prior to the Graveside funeral service at 11:00 A.M. in Crestview Memorial Park. Sandra I am so sorry about Ray. He is no longer suffering and at peace. I understand how difficult these days will be, but you are not alone. God is close to comfort the grieving and I will pray for you as you adjust to a different life. Call me anytime you need to talk. Loved Ray, he was always so kind and I enjoyed being around him.
I think particularly of Sandra and Houston in sending out my best wishes for the entire family. I never knew of Mr. Kidd as anything but a generous man with a tremendous work ethic. Houston, I know that he was a huge pillar in your life. I pray and am certain that you will carry with you the memory of a father who placed himself second to his wife and son. May that spirit of service and love live on with you. I still remember his generosity in driving us all over the place to sled during our middle school days. May you always carry your father’s legacy with you and represent him well.
Jeremy
