Mary Ann Maitland

Mrs. Mary Ann Maitland, age 88, died Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at her residence. She was an Agent for the former Peoples Life Insurance Company and the widow of Herbert Lawson Dawson. Mary Ann is survived by her son William “Sonny” Maitland and his wife Jean of Warfield, three sisters: Ruby S. Myers of South Hill, Shirley Winkler, of Palmer Springs and Lydie Cottee and husband Ross of Stoney Creek; her brother, Rufus Maitland of Petersburg; two grandchildren; Lisa Cosner and husband Keith of Gasburg and Christy Jones of Freeman, five great grandchildren; Chelsie Warmouth and husband Patrick of Brodnax, Justin Campbell of Brodnax, Deandra Sosa and husband Matthew of South Carolina, Aliyah Watkins and Tiana Jones both of Freeman, four great great grandchildren; Jerry, R.J., Noah and Leela. She is also remembered by a special niece and nephew Jay and Janice Lawrence of McKinney.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Crestview Memorial Park,. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501, St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Navajo Relief Fund, P.O. Box 1841 Merrifield, VA 22116.
