Mr. Dalton Thomas "D.T." Vaughan

Mr. Dalton Thomas “D.T.” Vaughan, age 73, of South Hill, died on Sunday, October 22, 2023. D.T. was a retired employee of VDOT and a very well respected and long time South Hill Volunteer Fire Department fireman. D.T. is survived by his wife, Kathy R. Vaughan of South Hill; his daughter, Kristal V. Winstead of South Hill; his two step-sons: Chad Driggs (Ashley) of Baskerville and Greg Driggs (Isabel) of Nelson; his two grandsons: Cody Carroll and Christopher Carroll; his eight step-grandchildren: Jasmine Jackson (Fran), Taylor Driggs (Ben), Krystal Nunez, Cameron Driggs, Michael Driggs, Tristan Driggs, Chelsea Driggs and Tyler Driggs; his two great-step-grandchildren: Maverick Sanya and Mila Sanya; his step-mother, Nannie Vaughan of La Crosse; his five sisters: Janice Crouch (Ritchie) of Roanoke, Patricia Rogers (J.B.) of South Hill, Jenny Kirby (Danny) of La Crosse, Connie Clary (Robbie) of La Crosse and Linda Gordon (Brad) of La Crosse; his two brother-in-laws: Thomas Franklin (Barbara) of Henderson, NC and Dennis Robbins of Wylliesburg; his sister-in-law, Linda Guill (H.B.) of Charlotte Courthouse and a dear family friend, Anita Hall of South Hill and his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. D.T. was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. Vaughan and Goldie Johnson; his aunt, Ruby Cook; his sister, Brenda McGann and his beloved pet dog, Maci. The family wishes to express their gratitude to his two sitters, Mildred and Spoon and to Amedysis Hospice, especially his niece/nurse, Lindsey Satterwhite for their loving care. A funeral service with full Fireman Honors will be conducted on Wednesday, October 25th at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in D.T.’s name may be made to the South Hill Volunteer Fire Department at 114 N. Kathy, Matthew and I are saddened to hear about D.T ‘s passing. He definitely was a special person as exhibited by the way he lived. Remember that we are keeping all of you in our hearts and prayers.
