Mr. Curtis Daniel Glasgow, Jr.

Obituary:

Mr. Curtis Daniel Glasgow Jr., age 83, of South Hill passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in his home, holding the hand of his loving wife, and surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Curtis Daniel Glasgow Sr. and Olga (Patsy) McAlister Glasgow of Danville. Curtis graduated from George Washington High School in Danville and attended the University of Virginia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He moved to South Hill April 1,1967 to open the South Hill branch of Electrical Equipment Company and in 1974, opened the Franklin branch. He retired from the company on September 1, 2005 after 40 years; he managed the South Hill branch for 36 years. He was a faithful and dedicated member of South Hill United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He was a past master and treasurer of South Hill Masonic Lodge #297, a member of the ACCA Shrine Temple of Richmond, a member of the Scottish Rite of Danville, a member of American Legion Post #79, and a past patron of Loyalty Chapter #48 O.E.S. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Some of his favorite activities included going fishing, attending his grandchildren’s sports and academic events, and spending quality time with them. He was a big fan of the Washington Redskins and the University of Virginia. He loved telling jokes and decorating for Christmas with lots of lights! He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 44 years, his two daughters, Michelle Tanner (husband Steve) and Amy Lynch (partner Micheal), four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lynch, Kyle Tanner, Matthew Lynch, and Regan Tanner all of South Hill. Plus, he is survived by a sister, Patsy Gulihur of Santee, California and a brother, James Glasgow (wife Sue) of Danville. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Donald Gulihur and a son-in-law, Heath Lynch. A funeral service will be conducted at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home on Sunday November 19th at 2:00 P.M. with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park with full American Legion Post #79 Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 in the funeral home.   1. May God’s grace, comfort, and peace be with Donna and the family! We have been blessed to have such a wonderful neighbor, and we were always amazed at his beautiful Christmas yard!

  2. I am so sorry to hear about Curtis’ passing. He meant a lot to me and to so many people. I will miss him and his kind spirit at South Hill United Methodist Church and I know many others will miss him as well. Praying for God to comfort Donna and the family.

  3. Donna and family I’m sorry for your loss. Curtis loved you all. He was a good man that loved to tell a joke and laugh. He was a kind and dear friend. I feel blessed to have known him. He will be sorely missed by many. God’s speed Curtis. The Lord has taken home another good soul.
