Mrs. Frances Mariah Bailey Thompson

Mrs. Frances Mariah Bailey Thompson of South Hill, VA, born May 22, 1930 in Charlotte County, VA, one of eleven children, to Jasper Hinton (Papa Tinker) Bailey and Nannie Davis Glidewell Bailey, died Monday, February 12, 2024. Mrs. Thompson was a Life Member of the Southside Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary, an Honorary Member of the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she was the recipient of the Lou Saunders Award of Excellence, she also received the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Virginia Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries and Volunteers for the Capital District and she was the widow of Milton L. (Hump) Thompson.
Frances is survived by her son Gary L. Thompson and his wife Ellen of Powhatan, a granddaughter, Blair Thompson Rowe and her husband Derek also of Powhatan, a great granddaughter Katelynn Rowe and a great grandson Tyler Allen Rowe. Frances was also predeceased by her grandson Tyler Thompson.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Crowder-Hite-Crews Chapel with interment in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends starting at 12:30 P.M. also on Thursday until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions in Frances’ name may be made to Southside Rescue Squad, 810 West Atlantic Street South Hill, VA 23970.
