Nelson Edward Watson

Mr. Nelson Edward Watson, age 61, of South Hill passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, in his home. He was a retired detective with the South Hill Police Department, where he selflessly served the community for 25 years. Nelson was a proud husband and father. Mr. Watson is survived by his loving wife of thirty-one years, Tammy Watson, his three daughters; Cindy Burwell (Andrew) of Chesterfield, Robin Hensley (Robert) of South Hill and Shannon Watson of Fredericksburg, VA, his two sons; Shaun Watson (Ashley) of San Francisco, CA and Christopher Watson of South Hill, his three brothers; Robert B. “Topper” Watson of Lawrenceville, Ashley Green “Chipper” Watson (Robin) of LaCrosse and Taylor Bishop Watson of Georgia, his six grandchildren: London Burwell, Dallas Burwell, Carley Hensley, Makayla Hensley, Aaron Hensley and Liam Campbell. Nelson was predeceased by his parents, Lewis Edward “Cotton” Watson and Jane Bentley Watson. He will forever be loved and missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Crowder – Hite – Crews Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation starting an hour before at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Southside Rescue Squad at P. O. Box 546, South Hill, VA 23970.
