Alma Lucille Taylor Moore

12/24/1950 - 04/16/2025

Obituary:

Mrs. Alma Lucille Taylor Moore, age 74 of Brodnax, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. She was known to most as “Lucille” but wore the title of “Nanu” to her grandchildren most proudly.
She was a lifelong member of Sanford Memorial Baptist Church in Brodnax where she faithfully served in many capacities: adult, youth and children’s Sunday school teacher, WMU and WOM member and officer, choir member, and trusted advisor on many other church committees. Her dedication to her “Overcomers”
Sunday school class and the children’s ministry will always be remembered. She was loved by all and touched many lives in these roles.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Hawkins and son-in-law, Jason Hawkins. Her most precious treasures were her grandchildren, Jamie Hawkins and Olivia Hawkins. She is also survived by her mother, Della Taylor; a sister, Gladys Baird; a brother, Billy Taylor, and many extended family members.
Through the years, she developed many cherished friendships, particularly during her 40 years at Brodnax Mills and as a local hairdresser.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hubert Wallace “Tim” Moore and her father, Jamie Harold Taylor.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday April 23, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Crowder-Hite-Crews with interment to follow in Canaan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. Online condolences may be made through our website at www.crowderhitecrews.com. Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Moore family.

I’m sorry to hear the sad news and my condolences to Lucille’s family including Gladys. I also worked with Lucille for years at Brodnax Mills where she oversaw the shipping department. She was an important part of our team and Brodnax family and I always enjoyed our connection, both work and personal. She was patient, kind, professional and very responsible and did a great job for everyone. Life definitely gave Lucille some challenges but she was always positive and upbeat, which I assume came from her great faith. Lucille always had a smile and a heart of gold and I’m sure is with other angels now, resting peacefully. I’ll continue to remember her along with my other friends at Brodnax who I hope are well.

We didn’t get to see Lucille very often over the years due to living in Northern Virginia. But, when I did she was the same kind and sweet soul I’ve always known her to be. Will be unable to attend services, but sending sympathy and prayers to Aunt Della, Gladys, Billy and extended family/friends.

  6. I send condolances to Miss Lucille’s family. It is very sad to hear of her passing. She was so giving of her heart and of herself in so many ways. I will miss the talks and hymns we shared at the Annex. I know she is resting peacefully and free of pain in Jesus’ arms.

It crushed my heart hearing this. She had been a good friend, so kind and humble. I remember her beautiful prayers. I just felt she was so connected to Father God. I’m sorry the family has to bear this grief yet the older I get the more I know that death is coming for us all. I don’t mean to be morbid; that’s just where I am in my life. Hugs to all the family. I don’t get around well anymore but my thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Love ❤️

  11. Remembering Lucille

Robert had the opportunity of working with Lucille for many years. She was a sweet beautiful lady. I knew her also for many years. She shared so much caring and kindness to others. I also had the honor seeing her at Sanford Memorial for many years. Lucille sang beautiful songs to praise her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and devoted herself to the study of GODS Holy Word. She willing shared herself with everyone. Amy may GOD bless you and your family. Lucille will surely be missed. She truly left wonderful memories with us all and I feel. Sure her new home is Eternlly in Heaven. We loved her as a wonderful friend. ❤️
