Mr. Stephen Robert Hite
10/30/1984 - 07/18/2025
Stephen Robert Hite was called home to be with the Lord on July 18 following a brief illness. Stephen, as family called him, was born October 30, 1984, to Lynn and Emery Hite. The ultimate younger brother, Stephen was an energetic, joyful child with a motor that only had one speed—really fast. He was blessed with an idyllic childhood in Mechanicsville, Virginia, where he enjoyed playing outdoors, summertime adventures to Studley General Store, and spending time with his older siblings, Barry and Laura. Family was always Stephen’s favorite pastime. He loved visiting his cousins, aunts, and uncles in Buffalo Junction. Holidays and summer trips were not complete without a visit to see Aunt Katherine, Uncle Carlton, Uncle Mason, Uncle Randolph, Aunt Linda, and Uncle Eddie (who is actually a cousin, as Stephen liked to point out). “Steve,” as he later preferred to be called, graduated from Atlee High School in 2003 and was passionate about cars, automotive restoration, action movies, and making people laugh. He was an experienced insurance professional who could talk to anyone and loved helping people. He is survived by his parents, Emery and Lynn (Silver); his sister, Laura Hite; and his brother, Barry (Laura Wilkinson), as well as nephews Anson, Henry, and Owen. He leaves behind an extended family of Hites and Silvers to whom he was devoted. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Memories of his humor, generosity, and larger-than-life personality live on with those who loved him. The family will hold a visitation and funeral services beginning at 12 p.m. on August 9 at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle, 2326 US-58, Buffalo Junction, VA 24529, with a graveside service to follow. Flowers may be sent to Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory at 1504 N. Mecklenburg Ave., South Hill, VA 23970. Online condolences may be sent through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com. Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Hite family.

Emery, Lynn, Barry, Laura and Family-
I am so sorry for the loss of Stephen. He was a wonderful man. He will be missed by so many including his extended family in Buffalo junction Virginia. My prayers have been going up for the family all of you guys for a long time since I heard. I’m afraid I won’t be able to attend the services because I’ll be in New York taking care of my mother. But I hope to see you guys real soon.RIP Steve
Dear Silver and Hite Families,
Dear Laura,
Laura, I am sorry you lost your brother so suddenly and while you both are so young. It doesn’t seem right or fair when a sibling leaves first. I stand with you and wish you to rise soon to enjoy the funny events, the crazy stories and beloved memories.
I send to you love and comfort, when it’s possible. Linda
