03/21/1935 - 10/15/2024

Obituary:

Mr. James Carmen Caruso, age 89, of Littleton, NC, died peacefully in his home on October 15, 2024. He was the son of the late Michelangelo and Clementina Genua Caruso, a United States Navy Veteran and the widower of Carol Ann Caruso. Jim had a smile for everyone he met, and he had a heart full of love. He supported many organizations in his lifetime, such as the Special Olympics and St. Jude. He was extremely proud of giving over 30 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross throughout his lifetime, and received an award for this from the governor of Connecticut. Deeply religious and committed to his faith and country, he was proud to have served in the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and the YAGR’s Radar Picket Ship Association. His family meant the world to him. Many wonderful vacations were spent with his wife Carol and their children and grandchildren. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities and was so proud of them. He enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews as well as numerous, caring friends whom he considered family. Jim is survived by his four children: James C. Caruso, Jr. and his wife Wendy, Sharon C. Bette and her husband Isaac, Greg P. Caruso and his wife Valerie and Dr. John R. Caruso and his wife Kim; his brother, Dominic Caruso; his 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and his many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday October 26th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church located at 31 Ebony Road, Ebony, Virginia with a reception immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to the Tunnel to Towers foundation at 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306. 1. Nephew

To us he was always “Uncle Butch”. Wonderful, kind, loving uncle. Proud Navy veteran. So happy we got to spend his final day visiting and talking with him. He will be missed and loved.

  2. Nephew

His smile. We will always remember his smile. He loved to share stories of how much he loved my mom and how much he cherished his visits with her. We are grateful we got to spend time with him in these last days. Up to the end, he was engaging and always interested in what was going on with us. He was a true gentleman, and we will cherish his memory
