Obituary:

Barbara Keeling Correll, age 68, of Bracey entered eternal rest on October 21, 2024. An honoring daughter, born October 9, 1956, of her predeceased parents Dr. Robert (Bob) Daniel Keeling and Dorothy (Dot) Quinn Keeling of South Hill. She is a radiant and supportive sister of Robert Daniel (Dan) Keeling II (wife Pamela [Pam]) of Richmond, Diane Keeling Coleman (husband Michael [Mike]) of Richmond, Gloria Keeling Horne (husband Richard [Ricky]) of Ashland, Warren Frederick Keeling (wife Mary) of Newport News, a proud Navy wife of CDR Steve Allen Correll USNR of Bracey, a blessed mother of Katherine Correll Anderson (husband Eric [Ike]) of Johnson City, TN, Lauren Correll Hollers (husband Bradley) of Raleigh, NC, and John Prentice Correll of Bracey, a dedicated Nanna to Leland Thomas Hollers and Robert Rhys Hollers of Raleigh, NC, and a precious friend and sweet lady. Most important to Barbara is her love for our Lord Jesus Christ and his word, her continual love for her family, and her opportunities to participate in Christ’s ministry. In this life, Barbara put aside a scientific career to be the glue that held her family together while Steve was on deployment with the Navy. She dedicated herself to the church and its ministries in each community she lived in especially at First Baptist Church, South Hill, VA, Talbot Park Baptist Church, Norfolk, VA, Fairfax Baptist Church, Vienna, VA, First Baptist Church, Durham, NC, Mecklenburg Community Baptist Church, South Hill, VA, and Ephesus Baptists Church, South Hill, VA. As part of the ministry of the church, Barbara enjoyed participating in choir, handbells, and children’s music. She taught youth and children, along with International Women’s Bible study. With a love for learning and service, she earned her master’s degree in biblical counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and volunteered as a chaplain at Duke Emergency Room. Barbara had a heart for missions both at home and abroad, and desired to bring glory to God above all things. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 26, at 2:00 PM at Ephesus Baptist Church, Smith Crossroads with public viewing held a hour prior, 1:00 PM. Following a reception in the church social hall from 3:00 until 4:00, interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name in support of missions to Ephesus Baptist Church, 1642 Smith Cross Rd., South Hill, VA 23970. 1. Saint Barbara

Barbara’s legacy is one of a brilliantly inquisitive mind with a heart that loves fiercely whose embrace is as comforting as her bright blue eyes and as warming as her radiant smile.
Her life of love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness, temperance, and faith continues to minister as she enters the golden gates in celebration ❤️

  2. Friend to family of Diane Coleman( sister of Barbara)

My prayers go out to Diane Coleman and her family for the loss of her sister. She sounds like an excellent person who will be missed so much. Much love, Farino family

  3. I had the privilege of meeting Barbara and Steve when we attended Mecklenburg Community Baptist Church. Barbara always has the sweetest smile and the kindest words to say. I messaged her many times asking her to pray for me and I always knew that she truly did. She was a blessing and will be missed by so many. I know that when she met the Lord he said, Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant. I will truly miss her but I know that I will see her again one day. My heart goes out to her family
