Obituary:

Mr. Gene Starrett Kidd passed away on December 3, 2024, at the age of 85, at the Hundley Center in South Hill, VA. Born on April 23, 1939, Gene lived a full and cherished life. Gene is survived by his loving family: sister Clara Dell Mills; daughter Wanda Bailey (Paul); grandchildren Sarah Spence (Ryan), Paul Bailey, Jr. (Cassandra), Matthew Bailey (Grace), Kirsten Phillips (Johnathan), Hannah Vaughan (Brandon) and Erin Bailey; and great-grandchildren Caelynn Spence, Declan Spence, Elayna Bailey and Autumn Bailey. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Wilson Kidd and Sarah Ruby Kidd; brother Richard Grey Kidd; and sister Ruby Joyce Baird. Funeral services will be held at Prospect United Methodist Church on Friday December 6 at 11:00 A.M., with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ebony Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 34, Ebony, VA 23845 or to the Prospect Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 29, Ebony, VA 23845.   1. To Mrs. Wanda Bailey and family I send my condolences to you and your family with the passing of Mr. Gene Kidd. Praying that you find peace and comfort that your dad, grandpa, and great grandpa is in heaven with God. To know that one day you will meet again I pray gives you a sense of peace.
