Obituary:

Mrs. Betty Lou Gillespie Young of South Hill, Va. died Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at her residence. She was a retired fifth grade teacher at Henrico Co. Public Schools. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Douglas Young, a son John Douglas “Doug” Young of Henrico county; her daughter, Deborah Louise Young Barbuto and husband Nathan of Henrico county and three granddaughters: Ashley, Rachel and Rosalina Barbuto all of Henrico county. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in the South Hill United Methodist Church. Also at later dates (to be announced) services will be conducted at Skipwith United Methodist Church in Richmond, Va. and Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs, WVA. All service times will be posted on this obituary once scheduled. The family suggest, memorial contributions in Betty’s name be made to the South Hill UMC, 105 Franklin St., South Hill, VA. 23970, Skipwith UMC, 2211 Skipwith Rd., Richmond, Va. 23294 or Emanuel UMC 136 Tressel St., White Sulpher Springs, WVA. 24986.     Sending prayers to the family. I have only know mrs.young for about 8 months her and her husband and son came in roams in southill va 2 times a day till she took sick she has a heart of gold and I am blessed to have got to know her and her husband and son very well and would do anything for them she will be missed a lot of her smile she had to give everyone that she met.
