Mrs. Elizabeth King Whitener

Obituary:

Mrs. Elizabeth King Whitener, Age 88, of Gasburg, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2025, at her home on Lake Gaston.
Born on October 29, 1936, she was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Hardoway King and Elise
Phillips King; her daughter, Susan Terrell Whitener; and her siblings, Eugene Phillips King, Calvert King
Poole, Marion Hardoway King, Jr. and Susan King Aubuchon.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Linwood Alan Whitener (Anyela); her daughter, Julia Whitener
Jones (Greg); and her grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Kilbourne, Jason Lee Kilbourne, Alan
Whitener II, Yamhel Miguel Turbay, John Gregory, Jones, Jr. (Sarah), Emma Caroline Jones,
her sister in law, Betty King, her brother in law Travis Poole and several nieces and nephews.
A 1956 graduate of Greensville High School, Elizabeth continued her education at Smithdeal
Massey Business College in Richmond. She later worked for Melpar in Washington, D.C.,
before spending 30 years with the Richmond Public Schools, first as a truant officer and later as
a secretary. After retiring, she moved to Lake Gaston, where she enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren and indulging in her love for collecting dolls from artists like John Wright, Anette
Hemstedt, and Lee Middleton.
Elizabeth's life was filled with love, dedication to family, and a deep passion for her hobbies. She
will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and devotion to those she loved.

Service will be on Monday March 24, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery, South Hill. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 until service time in the funeral home. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com.
