Obituary:

Mr. Carlos Leon Clifton, age 69 of White Plains, died Thursday, July 24, 2025. He was a painter for Slate and Spivey building contractors of Emporia, Va.

Carlos is survived by his wife of forty-two years Grace Cottee Clifton, five daughters; Shannon Gonzalez of Gaston, NC, Autumn Clifton Bautista and husband Ignacio of Brodnax, Michelle Hamlet and husband Jamie of North Carolina, Angela Reynolds of Danville, VA. and Victoria Clifton of Gaston, NC, four sisters; Patricia Jennette Clifton of Stokesdale, NC, Angela Dianne Clifton of Danville, VA, and Lisa Gail Clifton of Providence, NC. and Helen Elaine Clifton also of Danville, VA, one brother Sherman Lee Clifton and wife Teresa of Mt. Airey, NC, three step-sisters Vickie Parker, Teresa Moser and Pat Moser Chilton, and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Carlos Chapman Clifton and Leslie Marie McBride Clifton, his step-father, Glenn Linwood Moser, a sister Brenda Marie Clifton, a step-brother George Moser and a grandson Dominic Gabriel Mendez-Sotero.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home.

    I really hated to hear that Leon had passed and I thought a lot of him and even though I didn’t visit him I did think about him a lot and I saw him on Facebook a lot of times when he would look at my post. I miss his dad too Carlos who died 50 years ago and who was my brother. I really hope he went to a better place because this place we are living today is full of sin. Rest in peace

    You will be truly missed. You had a heart of Gold. My heart goes out to the family. Leon “Spooks”was definitely one of a kind, his laughter was contagious. We love you
