Jerry Douglas Reynolds

02/28/1945 - 08/23/2025

Obituary:

Jerry Douglas Reynolds, age 80, of South Hill, Virginia, departed this life on August 23, 2025. He was born February 28, 1945, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Daphne Reynolds and a sister, Trudy Jo. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; his daughter, Melissa Hauber (Steve) of Vienna, Virginia; and granddaughters, Michaela and Sophie. He is also survived by a brother, Darrell Reynolds (Carol) and nephew Aaron Reynolds of Lexington, North Carolina; and stepmother, Doris Reynolds of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina.

Jerry maintained his love and admiration for his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters, and enjoyed every minute when he was with them. He hopes to be remembered, among other things, as a devoted and faithful husband to Sarah, his wife of 58 years.

Jerry was in the first graduating class (1963) of Southeast Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he met Sarah. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force for four years. He then received a degree in business management from Guilford College and began a 37-year career with First Citizens Bank. During that time and in retirement, he was active in his community and church. He loved trying to help others by donating his time and talents. Jerry enjoyed traveling, reading and learning, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family. He believed in working hard and doing things the right way. He displayed a genuine interest in other people's lives and was always generous with a compliment and an encouraging word.

Jerry was blessed to have many friends in his life. The family would like to thank these friends and everyone who supported him as his health declined.

The family invites everyone to a service of celebration of his life at South Hill United Methodist Church, South Hill, Virginia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th, and a reception immediately following at Kahill’s Restaurant. Guests are also welcome to attend an interment service and reception to follow at Alamance Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, North Carolina at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31st.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Reynolds Scholarship at Southside Virginia Community College Foundation, 109 Campus Drive, Alberta, Virginia 23821 or to South Hill United Methodist Church, 105 Franklin Street, South Hill, Virginia 23970.
