Robert Allen "Bobby" Harrell
05/07/1946 - 09/06/2025
Robert Allen Harrell, better known as Bobby, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2025, at the age of 79. Bobby is survived by his devoted companion, Bobbie Brooks; his daughter, Shelley Clark (Toney); his sons, Brad Harrell (Shawna) and Rob Harrell (Janice); and his cherished grandchildren, Constance Walker-Clark and Joshua Harrell. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy Perrin and Brenda Hilliker (Lynn); his brothers, Earl Harrell (Sharon) and Larry Harrell (Janie); and by the family of his late wife, Katherleen Harrell, including a stepdaughter, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who brought him much joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Harrell, and his brothers, John “Johnny” Harrell III and Roy Harrell. Bobby proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam era, a service he carried with great pride throughout his life. After his time in the Army, he built a long career and later retired from Virginia Power. He found happiness in life’s simple joys—days spent hunting, watching the races, and peaceful times in the mountains. At the Red Bank Hunt Club, he earned the nickname “Bobby Lou,” while to his grandchildren he was simply “Pop,” a name that brought him the greatest pride. He especially enjoyed discovering new seafood restaurants on his adventures, always savoring the chance to share a good meal and good company. His daughter extends heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers, Lanissa Jones and April Hunt. Though their time together was brief, their compassion, kindness, and care brought Bobby great comfort. She also wishes to thank the Richmond V.A. Hospital, especially the Medical ICU and Palliative Care Unit, for their exceptional support in his final days. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with full American Legion Post 79 military honors, preceded by a visitation with family and friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home in South Hill, Virginia.
