Mr. Robert Sterling Bowers, Sr.

Mr. Robert Sterling Bowers, Sr., age 75, of South Hill, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Robert was the retired owner and operator of his own hearing aid business, Audibel, where he proudly served his community for many years. He was also a United States Army Veteran. Above all, Robert was a devoted family man. He is survived by his seven children: Angela Darlene Bowers of Asheville, NC; Tammy Lynn Bowers of South Hill; Robert Sterling Bowers, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Newport News; Devin Clinton Bowers and his wife Danielle of South Hill; Taylor Harris and her husband Lyn of Brodnax; Troy House and his wife Christine of Ebony; and Bryan Gill and his wife Ann of South Hill. He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life. Robert is also survived by his two brothers, C.D. Tucker and his wife Loretta of Triplett, and David S. Lawson and his wife Hae Rin of Chesterfield; his sister, Sandra T. Hightower and her husband Johnny of Baskerville; his caregiver and dear friend, Emily Talley; his good friend, Taylor Jackson; and many loving nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Frank A. Bowers, Jr. Robert was married to Diane Bowers of South Hill for nearly 30 years and they remained close friends until the end. He was predeceased by his parents, Eddie A. Bowers and Claudia R. Lawson, and his brother, Frank A. Bowers, Sr. Robert had a true passion for music and loved to sing. He was a self-taught acoustic guitar and steel guitar player, singing at many weddings, funerals, and other events over the years. On many Saturday nights, friends and family knew they could find him with his guitar in hand, singing country music and Elvis songs. He loved NASCAR, hunting, coaching youth baseball, and cheering on the Washington Redskins. Known for his great sense of humor, Robert could always be found cutting up, telling jokes, and making those around him laugh. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory, with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made through the funeral home website at www.crowderhitecrews.com.
