Mrs. Jane Paulette Taylor

Jane Paulette Taylor passed away February 15, 2026. She was the daughter of the late
William Harrison Paulette and Sallie Lou Holmes Paulette and sister of the late Aubrey
Paulette, Dr. W.D. Paulette, and Emilye Estelle Paulette Lumpkin. She was the widow of
John Edward Taylor, with whom she shared almost 67 years of marriage. She was
predeceased by her son Thomas Goode Taylor. She is survived by her sons John
Harrison Taylor and Stuart Edward Taylor and his wife Carmen Gallion Taylor of South
Hill. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Anne Massie Taylor, Gallion Emilye Taylor
Hudgins (William Tucker Hudgins, Jr.), Jackson Edward Taylor and one great-
grandchild, William Tucker Hudgins, III, two devoted nieces Mary Jane Elkins and
Roberta Paulette Payne, nephew William Aubrey Paulette, and two nieces Pat Bullard
and Pam Taylor. She was a graduate of State Teachers College (Longwood University) and was a
substitute teacher for many years. She also was the bookkeeper of the family business
for many years. She was an active member of the South Hill United Methodist Church
and the United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the Colonial Dames,
Daughters of the American Revolution, Rose Hill Garden Club and several bridge
groups. The family will receive friends at South Hill United Methodist Church Chapel Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. until the service time at 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss
It is with much sadness that I learn of Jane’s passing. It has been a joy to know her all these years and a delight to have her when I taught the ladies class.
You are all in my prayers.
