Obituary:

Donald Gene Johnson, 80 of Brodnax, passed away on February 27, 2026 at his home. Donald was retired from the town of Brodnax. He is survived by his caretakers, Douglas and Bessie Moore, and Robert (Butch) Bolton. Also surviving by his nieces and nephews, Robert (Donna), Rosa (Bill), Jean, Sheila, Eugene, and Theresa; great nieces and nephews, Anna (Matthew), Taylor, Ashley, Bobby, Janice, Deborah, BJ (Tiffany), Montana (Sarah), Nathan, Tabatha, Brittany and Victoria; his beloved great-great niece, Randi Ann Washburn and 23 other great-great nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great-great nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Grace Johnson; one sister Lille; three brothers, Thomas (Webster), Ernest and Ronald; a sister-in-law, Beulah; and great niece, Savannah. In addition, he has left behind his 3 beloved dogs, Lil Bit, Sadie and Scarlet, and went to join his favorite dog Shyann. The family will receive family and friends Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 12:30 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Johnson Family Cemetery, Brodnax. Online condolences may be made at www.crowderhitecrews.com.
