Mrs. Margaret Walker Smith, age 95, of South Hill, passed away on Thursday March 12, 2026. She was a retired Administrative Assistant for St. Catherine’s School in Richmond; the pianist for Trinity Methodist Church for 60 years and the widow of Edsel Jones Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by her two sons: Ed Smith and his wife Ellen of South Hill and Walker Smith and his wife Joyce of Richmond; her three grandchildren: Martin Smith and his wife Amy, Emily Sturgis and her husband Kyle and Madeline P. Smith; her four great-grandchildren: Taylor Smith, Tempe Smith, Bailey Sturgis and Walker Sturgis; her double first cousin, Elizabeth Chandler and her first cousin Carol Walker Watson. A graveside memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday March 17th at 11:00 A.M. in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery fund at 1642 Smith Cross Road, South Hill, VA 23970.
