Obituary:

Frances Rolfe Howell, 93 of Baskerville, passed away June 15, 2026. Mrs. Howell was predeceased by her husband, James Edward “Ed” Howell; her parents, Lit and Myrtle Rolfe; a brother, Bill Rolfe; and a dear friend, William Moore. She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Massey of Baskerville, Mary Toone (Otis) of South Hill and Linda Clark of South Hill; one brother, Walter Rolfe (Mattie) of Baskerville; sister-in-law, Virginia Rolfe; three step-children, Vicky Newcomb of Chase City, Brenda Howell of South Hill and Michael Howell of Washington, D.C.; 2 step-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; her beloved baby “Abby”; and her many cats. She was a long-time member of Ebeneezer Baptist Church and a previous healthcare sitter. The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2026 from 6:30 PM- 8:00 PM at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 11:00 Am in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Stephen DeOrnellas officiating. In February of 2004 we installed a crematorium to better serve our cremation families.  We now do all cremations in our facility, saving transport to another location for this service.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the cremation process.
