Jessie Everett Burton, Sr.

Obituary:

Jessie Everett Burton, Sr., age 93, of Forksville, Va passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026. He was born in Mecklenburg County to his late parents Hattie Parrish Mayton Burton and J. Sunnie Burton on October 12, 1932. Jessie is also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Ida Mae Gittman Burton; two sons James Burton and Jessie Burton, Jr.; his siblings William Burton, PFC James Edward Burton and Laura Burton Gittman; three half-sisters Margaret Mayton Clary, Bessie Mayton Phillips and Mary Mayton Hall.

Jessie was a hardworking man and farmer. He also had many hobbies, he loved to build things, grow things, hunt, fish and piddle. Jessie married his wife Ida on December 6, 1951. Jessie farmed for many years then, from 1985 to 2009 worked for Jack Kidwell, a Virginia sod grower and installer. One job Jessie was very proud of was when he helped completely refurbish and resod Lambeau field in one week before the NFC championship game on Sunday, January 12, 1997.

Jessie is survived by his daughter, Linda Lee (Cleave) of Brodnax, VA; his grandchildren, Wayne Krenzer, Jr. (Tammy) and their two sons Aaron Carroll and Shane McAdams; (more grandchildren) Amy Burton, Amanda Burton, Christopher Burton, Keith Harris, Crystal Krenzer Parham and Jacob Wray; and his 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; and many additional relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends the night prior, Monday, June 22, 2026 from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com.
