Mr. Richard Harrison Messer

Mr. Richard Harrison Messer, age 82, of La Crosse, passed away on Saturday September 19, 2026 in his home. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed baking and sharing his baked goods with others, he loved spending time with his family and friends and he was a United States Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean B. Messer of La Crosse; his brother, Michael Messer and his wife Mary of Ohio; his sister, Pamela Weitzel and her husband John of North Carolina; his two nephews: Thomas Messer and his wife Kelly and Nicholas Weitzel; his two nieces: Janine Gillispie and her husband Mark and Gretchen Dalrymple and her husband Josh; His daughter by choice, Karen Bank and her husband Tracy; his three granddaughters by choice: Lauren Atchison and her husband Grant, Rebecca Renfro and her husband Ryan and Rachel Killen; his grandson by choice, Ryan Killen and his wife Alyssa; his two great-granddaughters by choice: Brynley Atchison and Faelyn Webb; his nephew by choice, Russell Killen and his wife Kipley; his beloved friend, Bobby Webb and his many dear friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Opal Messer; his brother, Alan Messer and his Uncle and Aunt, Arthur and Cecil Messer. A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday September 23rd at 11:00 A.M. in the Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery, La Crosse, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c.o. Ellen Webb, 759 Webb Road, La Crosse , Virginia 23950.
