Hattie Conner Mills

Obituary:

Mrs. Hattie Conner Mills, age 97 of Bracey, formerly of Halifax County, Virginia, entered into the presence of her Savior on January 17, 2022. She retired from International Paper in 1987 and moved to River Ridge for retirement with the love of her life, Doug. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Lee Mills of South Boston, her parents Elisha Warren Conner and Gracie Perkins Conner, her sister, Dottie Conner Tate (John) from Elmo, and brother, Obie Conner from Danville, Va.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her brother –in-law Walter R. Norwood, Sr. of Richmond, and nieces, Sandra Tate Griffith of Daleville, Darlene Norwood Peyton (Alvin) of Mechanicsville, Debbie Norwood Ward (Julian) of Lanexa, and nephews John Bernard Tate of Elmo, and Walter R. Norwood, Jr. (Loretta) of South Dakota.
The family of Hattie Mills would like to give a special thanks to her friends Orville and Bea Phillips of the River Ridge Community, her companion sitters Brittney Beck, Lisa Beck, Carolyn Owens, Nicole Wilkerson and Sandra Barnes. Your love and help were invaluable.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home, 1504 North Mecklenburg Ave, South Hill, Va. 23970. A private graveside service will be held in Newport News, Va. following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hattie’s home church, River Ridge Chapel, 20 Boardman Dr., Bracey, Va. 23019.     Hattie was beautiful inside & out! She lived an amazing long life with many that loved her! She made a grand contribution to this world & all that knew her. She will be missed! We can only imagine the amazing journey she is on now with the Lord. Sending love & hugs to the family. Sheryl
