Mr. James Arthur "JR" Robinson

07/15/1938 - 01/19/2022

Obituary:

James Arthur Robinson (JR), age 83, passed away on January 19, 2022 at home. JR proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was past commander and current Judge Advocate of the American Legion Post 79 and active member of the Honor Guard. He served as chairman of the American Legion Department of Virginia Golf Committee. JR was also chairman of Boy State of the 5th district and Post 79. He was a member of Providence Methodist Church. JR was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by Luther and Jessie Robinson, parents; Kathleen Stickley, sister; Betty Miller, sister; Luther M. Robinson, brother; and Trevor Robinson, grandson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy; Beverly Callahan (Mike), daughter; Jimmy Robinson (Cathy), son; Rhonda Dalton (David), daughter; and Darrell Bible, brother; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 25th at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park with full American Legion Post 79 Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time in the funeral home. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care given by Hospice of Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Legion Post 79 Honor Guard, in care of Lewis Wells, 203 Brook Avenue, South Hill, VA 23970.     Nancy, Bev, Jimmy, and Rhonda: Our deepest sympathy. Your entire family was part of my growing up in South Hil. I am sorry that we cannot be there for the funeral on Tuesday. Please know that your family has been and now are in our prayers. May God provide the grace that you need for this time and the days to come. 1 Peter 5:7, 10

    It was an honor that JR let me play golf in his outing twice a year from Columbus, OH. I came to know him and discovered what a wonderful person he was. He was always in a good mood and fun to be with. He will be dearly missed.
