Mrs. Mary Perkinson Matthews

Obituary:

Mrs. Mary Perkinson Matthews passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2022 in Greenville, North Carolina. Mary had made her home at Spring Arbor Assisted Living for the past ten years. She was known by staff and residents for her “ready” smile and her compassionate sense of care giving to those needing assistance. Mary was born on December 22, 1926, to Annie and Doll Perkinson in La Crosse, Virginia, her lifetime home until moving to North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie W. Matthews; her parents; her sisters, Ruby (Woodrow) Vaughan, Rosa (Linwood) Evans, Dorothy (Gid) Wright and Louise (Robert) Matthews and nephew, Charles Vaughan. She is survived by her niece, Joyce Matthews Albritton; her nephews: Wilson Vaughan, Louis Vaughan, David Wright and Kenny Evans and other nieces and nephews on the Matthews side of the family. A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Sunday May 15th at 2:00 P.M. in Crestview Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to the La Crosse United Methodist Church of which Mrs. Matthews was a life long member at P.O. Box 279, La Crosse, VA 23950.     Miss Mary, we missed your smiling face and kind words when you left Thompson Street. Mary, Louise and Ruby were our neighbors. WE loved you and your sisters.
