Etta Thompson Mathews

Mrs. Etta Thompson Mathews, age 92, of South Hill died, Friday, March 3, 2023 in Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA. Mrs. Mathews was the daughter of the late Allen Franklin Thompson and Mabel Evans Thompson. She was a retired salesperson with the former Leggett Department Store of South Hill and the widow of George Evans Mathews. Mrs. Mathews is survived by her son Charles A. Mathews and wife Shani of South Hill and a grandson Logan Mathews of Blacksburg, VA. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home with interment in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Mathews name to Mecklenburg Community Baptist Church,

God definitely gained an angel when he called Etta home. She was one of the sweetest ladies on earth. May God be with each member of her family in the months ahead without her. Lots of love from my home to yours.
