Obituary:

Mr. William Bennett “Bill” Tanner, age 90 of La Crosse and formerly of Staunton, VA, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in VCU/Community Memorial Hospital. He was a retired Pharmacist and an United States Navy veteran. He is survived by his two daughters; Rebecca Tanner Williams and husband Steve of Roanoke and Anne Tanner Stuart and husband Ken of Richmond, five grandchildren; Sam, Tanner, Grace, Elle and Leigh , a sister-in-law Christine Tanner of La Crosse and three nephews; Dan, Bob and Tom Tanner all of La Crosse. Bill was predeceased by his former wife Ruth Tanner and three brothers; Henry, Evans and Marvin Tanner. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home. The family suggest memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or the Hundley Center, 125 Buena Vista Circle, South Hill, VA 23970. Online condolences may be made through our website, www.crowderhitecrews.com.   1. Rebecca and family, I’m sorry for your loss. Billy will always hold a special place in my heart. He became an adopted family member and was a great friend to my mom. I will remember him fondly.
