Mrs. June Loving Meyer

Obituary:

June Loving Meyer, age 88, of South Hill, VA, passed away on June 21, 2024, at Transitions Lifecare in Raleigh, NC. June was born on March 12, 1936, to Arthur Clyde and Rosa Loving in Caroline County, Virginia. June grew up as part of a large extended family. She married Walter Christian Meyer, III, in 1954, and raised three boys. June worked many years for the Chesterfield County Credit Union before retiring with W.C. to Lake Gaston where they enjoyed playing golf, gardening and spending time with their children and grandchildren. June was active in church life, teaching Sunday School and leading Girls in Action at churches including Southside Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA, Second Branch Baptist Church, Chesterfield, VA and later in life serving at Olive Branch Baptist Church in La Crosse, VA. June was an engaged member and leader of the VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She banked more than 13,700 volunteer service hours during her years of service, and served as President, Vice-President and chair of many committees and events, and was named a Life Member and Honorary Member by the Auxiliary Board. June loved being Granny to her grandchildren. She was famous for ice cream cones, trips to the strawberry patch and zucchini bread. June was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Meyer III. June is survived by her three sons, Walter Christian (Chris) Meyer IV of Raleigh, NC, John Meyer (Kay) of Raleigh, NC, and Kenneth Meyer (Beth) of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Erin Delgado (David) of Raleigh, NC, Davis Meyer of Raleigh, NC, Kevin Meyer (Katie) of Raleigh, NC, and Elli Reeves (Justin) of San Antonio, TX; and two great grandchildren, Aaden and Tanner Reeves. A Celebration of Life for June and W.C. (who passed away during the pandemic in 2021), will be held on Saturday August 10th at 11:00 A.M. at Crowder-Hite-Crews Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Wake County at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to Olive Branch Baptist Church, Lacrosse VA.     June, I met you when I was taking care of Stella Crout. You always were so special in my heart. Now you are an Angel in Heaven. Much love and hugs.

  2. My sincerest condolences go out to Chris, John, Kenny and the entire Meyer family. I grew up with John and Kenny, and Mrs Meyer was one of the sweetest and nicest ladies I ever met. She lived a complete and amazing life and her legacy lives on within this wonderful family. God bless.

  3. June was a real lady and w.c. A hoot they were a great couple. I knew June through the Bracey post office I would see her everyday for her to pick up her mail she would tell us about her granddaughter the dancer and she was so proud of her and all of her grandchildren. So sorry for your loss I know she will be missed
