Rebecca Adams "Becky" Kidd

06/24/1939 - 10/02/2024

Obituary:

Rebecca (Becky) Adams Kidd (85) joined God’s choir on October 2, 2024. Born on June 24, 1939, to Gordon Emory Adams and Ethel Reese Adams of La Crosse, Becky and her life were defined by her love of Christ, her family, her talent, and her competitive spirit. An athlete throughout the years and a self-avowed “tomboy” in her youth, one who didn’t like to lose, Becky played softball, baseball, football, and continued basketball at the new Park View High School, bowled with friends, and even earned her first hole-in-one at golf before any of her sons. Some in La Crosse might even remember the swipe of her nails as she spiraled a football downfield. Becky enjoyed God’s creations, spending much of her time outdoors manicuring her lawn and garden area and bringing such beauty to the inside of her home with her painting, artistry, and music—in voice and in instrument. Becky believed in sharing one’s God-given gifts. Her entire life, she found her churchgoers to be family, and for seventy plus years, Becky played the piano and organ as well as sang in church choirs at La Crosse Baptist, Olive Branch, and Ephesus. As choir director, Becky enjoyed organizing music and praising God through song, and she brought that joy to some of the elderly who could not attend church by taking the choir to Pine View Assisted Living Facility. Becky also shared her talent, faith, and love as she taught hundreds of “her children” the beauty of music and hosted yearly recitals for their families. She often said that being asked to be a part of these past students’ weddings was a great joy and honor. Deeply devoted to her family, Becky is survived by Clifton Bob Kidd, her husband of 68 years; her sons, Jeff (Wendy) of Boydton, Chris (Kim) of Baskerville, and Mark (Sandi) of La Crosse; her grandchildren, Morgan, Justin, Jarrod, Trevor, and Mackenzie who will miss their GaGa dearly; her sister, Courtney Thomasson (Jackie); her sister-in-law, Amy Adams; her niece, Andrea Adams; and her nephew, Brad Thomasson. In our hearts, we know that Becky in Heaven is cradling her first born son, C. Gordon Kidd, while surrounded by her parents; her brothers, Goshey Adams and Jimmie Adams; her chosen sister, Iris Lee Armstrong (Gene); and her niece, Elizabeth Thomasson; plus her many friends who passed before her.
Becky will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in La Crosse Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at La Crosse Baptist Church, Saturday October 12, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the La Crosse Volunteer Fire Department, so special to her family, at P.O. Box 38, La Crosse, VA 23950. 1. Friend of family

Morgan, Mackenzie, Stacey and Barry we are so sorry for your loss. I remember meeting Mrs Kidd while taking care of Ruth, she was a very sweet lady and I know she will be missed by you all. 2. Sincere Sympathy

As a young girl growing up in La Crosse, I remember seeing Becky walking around town and thinking she was one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen. We became friends in our later years and we frequently sat together at the Moose Lodge dinners and bingo. Her Christmas cantatas were so special at Ephesus and I tried not to ever miss one of them. We were so happy when her son and my daughter were married and even happier when they gave us two precious grandsons. Becky was a special friend and I was blessed to be a part of her life. I’m sure Heaven opened the doors wide for her to enter. David and I send love and sympathy to all her loved ones.

  3. So sorry for your loss of a nice lady. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Surely she will be playing beautiful music on that piano in heaven. She will be remembered and missed by many here in the area.

  4. Pastor

Our deepest sympathy to the family! Becky was so important in my first time as pastor in LaCrosse Baptist. She would always pick hymns while I was finishing Seminary and without knowing my scripture or title of my sermon, the hymns were perfect! I would tell her God and her would always work it out! She inspired me and my family and was a big part in my staying for 23 years in La crosse Baptist! She will be missed, but never forgotten! God Bless
